We are Pacific NW boaters! We liveaboard and workaboard Traveler, our 1979 Cheoy Lee 46 Long Range Cruiser in Port Ludlow, WA. We moved aboard the summer of 2012 and still thoroughly enjoy the liveaboard lifestyle. Since moving aboard, we've put more than 3,500 miles under Traveler's keel. All the while maintaining and updating the vessel ourselves.
That's us, Darren, Lisa, and 8-year old daughter Arriana last August above Watmough Bay on Lopez Island, WA. You can see Traveler anchored in the middle of the bay just to the right of Arriana. Watmough Bay is one of our favorite places in the San Juan Islands!
In addition to owning Pacific NW Boater and our online store Pacific NW Boater TESTED with wife Lisa, Darren produced 65 half-hour episodes of Latitudes & Attitudes TV which aired nationally from 2005 through 2010. He has also owned his own advertising agency and worked in the high-tech industry before that.
Lisa wears multiple hats beyond Pacific NW Boater as she is also the acting Advertising Director for Cruising Outpost magazine, the number one selling marine title at Barnes & Noble and West Marine stores nationally. She was also the Syndication Director for Latitudes & Attitudes TV, and was an ad rep for Latitudes & Attitudes magazine.
Arriana, who is in second grade, has now lived 75% of her life aboard Traveler (she had just turned two when we moved aboard). She is a very smart girl, can make anything using Scotch tape, and is a great and enthusiastic crew member!
Here's a short video we made that very first, glorious summer of 2012 when we were out cruising for four months:
